About the course

Aim

This course will provide students with a broad art, crafts and ceramics education base. Students will incorporate new ways of working and expand their crafts practice. Emphasis is placed throughout the course on ceramics, drawing, design and the production process.

Modules include

  • Creative Application Ceramics
  • Ceramics Craft Skills
  • Painting
  • Design Skills
  • Studio Practice
  • History & Appreciation of Art and Design
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Work Experience

One module may be carried from Level 5

 

Work Experience

Two weeks work experience is incorporated in this course.

Career Opportunities

Students will be equipped with relevant work experience to pursue a range of career paths such as self-employed and freelance artists, commission work, designers and makers of craft and ceramic objects. For those focusing on business and industry they will work as design consultants in the retail area, buyers, and sales personnel.

Progression:

The Career Guidance Counsellor in the College is available to advise students on the various progression options to Higher Education. Progression is available to IT Colleges through Higher Education Links CAO scheme.   Examples include:

  • IADT, DL827 Art
  • NCAD –AD101-Art & Design (Portfolio)
