CISCO Networking Programme
The College of Further Education Dundrum is a CISCO Networking Academy offering the CISCO Certified Network Associate Programme in conjunction with IT Blanchardstown. The College of Further Education Dundrum has established links with many industry partners. As part of this programme, students benefit from applying class and lab based learning to real world network problem solving and implementation. This is provided through a work placement opportunity at a number of industry centres.
Duration: The course runs from September to May - 20 Hours per week Entry Requirements :
- FETAC (NCVA) Level II in Information Technology
(or)
- Advanced qualifications in I.T. (A+, N+, IT Essentials etc)
(or) Curriculum The CCNA curriculum trains students in the Internet technologies needed for designing, building and maintaining networks. An important feature of the programme is that class based learning is then applied to working on actual networks. From building a Web site to basic networking skills to VLAN troubleshooting, the CFE Networking Academy will train the next generation of network technicians and computer system administrators. Web Authoring: XHTML, CSS, DW MX 2004, JavaScript, SQL through MySQL, PHP
Optional Programming Module offered (Self regulated learning - Java)
All our programmes utilise the most up to date technologies and training materials in the industry including:
Online learning systems (Moodle)
Cisco 2600 Routers and Catalyst Switches
Use of Virtual Labs and Cisco Learning Academy trainging materials
2003 Server, Debian Linux Servers, IIS, Apache, PHP 4, MySQL etc.
There is a dedicated lab for Cisco CCNA participants.
Work Experience Work Experience is an integral part of this programme. Students are encouraged to acquire relevant work placement if possible, as this can not be guaranteed by the College. Career Opportunities
